Mr BaoWhat…/ London's love affair with all things Bao comes to Peckham with the opening of Mr Bao! Tell me more…/ Having acquired a run down shop on Rye Lane, founders Frank Yeung and Nick Birkett have transformed the neglected premises into South London's first Taiwanese Bao joint.  Interior inspiration comes from Asian coastal docks, featuring bashed cooper and solid industrial steel furniture combined with the building's original architectural features and a beautiful, original 75 year old wall map of the Asian coastline which brings the ethos together. On the Menu…/ Err…Bao and more bao. The small menu kicks off with a few nibbles, including Sweet Potato Chips, Beef Soup and dumplings after which it's all about their fluffy and delicious buns.  Fillings include 24 hour slow braised pork belly with roasted peanuts and sticky homemade hoisin sauce; awesome crispy fried chicken with kimchi and wasabi mayo; and even a S'More inspired dessert version consisting of a fried bao with melted chocolate and toasted marshmallow. We went and here's why you should go…/ 'Cos South Londoners deserve good Bao too! Price…/ Under £20/head for food. Wine around £5 Where…/ 293 Rye Lane, Peckham, SE15 4UA www.mrbao.co.uk
