Now in its fifth year, The Scotch Egg Challenge 2015 is set to be the most egg-traordinary yet.
Contestants will hail from as far afield as Devon and Nottingham, ready to take to the kitchen and do battle at the competition's new Islington home, The Canonbury Tavern. Journalist and author Joe Warwick will compère the evening as chefs from more than 20 UK pubs and restaurants fight to have their scotch egg crowned victorious. Free to attend, from 7.30pm fans of this humble bar snack can scramble for the best spot to sample all the creations in the most hotly contested egg-off yet.
The shortlisted contestants will compete in two categories; Traditional and Unconventional. Conventional concoctions will honour the original recipe, with a whole egg, wrapped in minced meat and will be delivered from the likes of Rivington Grill Shoreditch and Drake & Morgan. In the unconventional category the entries allow chefs to get creative - so as long as it contains an egg, the rest is up to the cooks.
Free, just turn up!
