It's November, so, let's be honest, basically Christmas. The time of year when winter wonderlands and outdoor ice rinks start appearing all over lovely London. The Ice Rink at Canary Wharf, a regular among the festive pop-ups, will this year, be teaming up with “Q on Ice”, a new pop-up restaurant by restaurateur Des McDonald.

Opened on 1st November, Canada Square Park will be home to Q on Ice for 17 weeks and will offer a wide selection of food and drink from the BBQ menu and raw bar. There are craft beers and winter “chocktails” (hot chocolate cocktail - pictured) on offer and a great choice of dishes made with the finest seasonal produce and locally sourced ingredients. Based on the menu at Des McDonald's “Q Grill” in Camden, dishes to delight include Charred Cornish hot wings, Barbecue crispy duck in a pretzel bun and Seared tuna with Japanese horseradish. The flexible dining space and all-day menu means you can sit down for a leisurely meal as much as you can take a quick break from ice-skating to refuel. chocktails The Q on Ice kitchen will be overseen by Lee Bull, Group Executive for Des McDonald Restaurants Etc. Q on Ice boasts a large outdoor viewing terrace where non-skaters can soak up the festive atmosphere, while watching friends and family elegantly skating past/ clinging to the side/ falling over. Featuring London's only skate path, this unique ice rink leads skaters through fairy-lit trees around Canada Square Park's iconic ‘Big Blue' sculpture by British designer Ron Arad before re-joining the main rink.
