With their fish sourced from their own fishmonger, Sutton & Sons contribute to London's growing gourmet Fish & Chips culture.
What.../
Retaining the age old British tradition of battered fish with salt and vinegar soaked chips yet also bringing excellently sourced fish and much higher quality than your traditional chippy.
Who.../
Husband and wife duo, Danny and Hana Sutton have become renowned for serving East Londoners with traditional deep-fried fish delivered fresh from their own fishmongers.
The Vibe.../
Sutton & Sons keeps to a traditional vibe, channeling the same atmosphere many of us are used to at seaside fish and chip shops. The takeaway section is at the front and comfortable wooden tables stretch to the back with relaxed lighting and vintage rock playing throughout the background.
The Menu.../
As well as such traditional staples as fish and chips, scampi, fish cakes or sausages, the restaurant also serves up a grilled catch of the day, tuna burger, lobster sub, grilled oysters and moules marinière. Plus, look out for Mrs Sutton's home-made pickles and desserts - her sticky toffee pudding is a must-have.
We went and here's why you should go.../
Fish and chips have played their own part in great British cuisine but you're more likely to find them in a greasy chippy rather than as a delicacy. So how refreshing to find them done well. If you're out in London and get that urge for our national takeaway but aren't quite inebriated enough to visit your local place, then I highly suggest visiting Sutton and Sons.
