The Red Lemon - New Opening
Josie Price |
Close to Portobello Road Market, The Red Lemon has brought proper pub grub, a massive selection of drinks and even an art gallery to West London.
Owned and run by Alli Kyle with head chef David Green in the kitchen, the pub offers dining seven days a week with a focus on well-sourced ingredients and menus put together with thought, passion and creativity. Regularly changing art collections from local artists (all for sale) hang on the walls and hand-stitched filament light-bulbs suspend over the bar to provide a welcoming yet stylish drinking and dining environment. Relax on sofas, prop up the bar or retire to the informal dining room for a relaxed lunch or dinner. British bar snacks like spiced crab on toast or Red Lemon Scotch eggs (pig's trotter with mustard mayo and kedgeree with a mango chutney) are a perfect accompaniment with a pint. If a leisurely meal is what you've come for, then starters such as pork and Stilton pâté with apple chutney and walnut bread; or homemade saddleback pork brawn with Arran mustard relish are all there for the eating. For mains? A steak burger…with cheese. Yep. To end on a high, there are puddings to please, including a deliciously indulgent chocolate and orange pot with brownie pieces and a changing range of ice creams and sorbets from Ice Cream Union, including a tipsy Gin & Tonic sorbet.
