The new-look Tewkesbury Park, set in 163 acres of undulating Cotswolds parkland overlooking the famous site of the AD1471 Battle of Tewkesbury, has recently completed a major renovation. With almost £4 million invested, the new look hotel is nothing short of impressive, including the addition of nine luxury historic suites, two new spa rooms, an Orangery and a Cocktail Lounge.
The hotel combines historic features with modern structures to create a contemporary yet cosy country getaway. Being in the Cotswolds, you’re not going to be short of local excursions, whether it’s a scenic cycle ride or a trip to the quaint local village.
Leisure facilities abound for those who want to enjoy the confines of the hotel, including an 18-hole golf course, squash and tennis courts, a snazzy new swimming pool area – with sauna and spa – and a fully equipped gym for a spot of iron pumping.
In terms of bedrooms, there are around 85 to choose from and regardless of your budget, all rooms also benefited from the refurb, so modern comforts come as standard. The swish suites coming with the added luxury of bathrooms larger than most London flats and bath tubs large enough to accommodate the residents of an average flat share.
With so much great produce on their doorstep, Executive Chef Anuj Thakur’s menus extensively champion local ingredients. Whether you plump for the Pershore grilled asparagus, the Bibury trout with home made tortellini or the Gloucester Old Spot Pork cooked three ways, dishes are beautifully presented and ideal for a special meal. Afternoon Tea is also pretty essential, particularly taken in the Orangery overlooking the lush grounds.
As the winter chill turns into crisp mornings and brighter evenings, a trip to the Tewkesbury Park Hotel is the ideal place to recharge and recuperate after the gloomier months.
Rooms start at around £110 including breakfast or £160 to include dinner too.
