Rudies Restaurant

Caribbean cuisine gets the upgrade it deserves with the opening of Rudies!

What…/ A properly fun and interesting restaurant in Dalston that promises to provide the finest taste of Jamaican cuisine around, all washed down with rum aplenty and Caribbean tunes! On the menu…/ The sharing style menu features real jerk dishes alongside a host of other traditional Jamaican dishes. The Jerk seasoning itself - available with Chicken, Lamb, Pork or Veg – is unapologetically punchy (unsurprising, given they marinade for 24 hours!) whilst the meat used is of a quality rarely found in this style of cuisine.  They've even got traditional oil drums to barbecue it all in. The patties are bursting with beautiful fillings, including an incredible Jerk Chicken.  Best leave the Lobster version though – the pricey shellfish is totally lost amongst the other big flavours used in the filling. Other small plates on the enticing menu include Curry Goat Dumpling with Pepper Jelly, Bammy Bruschetta (traditional cassava bammy topped with coriander, mint, cherry tomatoes and flaked salt cod) and a zingy Shrimp Salad with fresh jalapeno. Pricing is very sensible – expect to fill your boots for under £20/head. Rudies JerkTo drink…/ Errr… rum. The bar is home to one of the UK's largest selections of Jamaican rums including the likes of Appleton Estate, Edwin Charley and Monymusk.  Rudie's has also created a fun and clever cocktail list inspired by the Island's history and twists on the classics including the Daiquiri and Old Fashioned; oh, and definitely don't miss Rudie's flaming house Rum Punch - “Catch A Fire” - made using rums from all four operational distilleries in Jamaica. We went and here's why you should go…/ There's plenty of excellent Jamaican joints around, but very few proper restaurants. Ruddies finally turns Jamaican cuisine into a proper dining experience, with a cool venue where we'd happily hangout, enjoy some great cocktails, experience brilliant service and most importantly, tuck into some delicious food!
