Canto Corvino

Remember the days of proper restaurants?  Canto Corvino brings delicious Italian food and a memorable dining experience to Spitalfields (and not a brioche bun in sight!)

Who.../ Canto Corvino is the third opening from Andrew and Ninai Zarach, owners of the successful Manicomio restaurants in Chelsea and the City. Head chef Tom Salt is in charge of the new kitchen with Michael Mayhew overseeing the front of house. The Vibe.../ Award winning B3 Designers (Roka, Lima, Gymkhana and Bubbledogs) have created a sleek industrial interior, drawing on the warehouse aesthetic and trading heritage of the Spitalfields area.  The main restaurant dining area features a commanding show kitchen with cut stone tiles in a bold triangular pattern to the front, allowing diners to view the chefs at work.  The bar is equally impressive, providing an 'island' style structure in the centre of the room. As such, restaurant has struck the perfect balance of creating a special dining experience without being formal or stuffy. Menu.../ The menu offers a mixture and rich, indulgent dishes and lighter contemporary sharing plates. Delicious nibbles include, Sicilian red prawn, chilli & tomato arancini; Saltmarsh lamb ribs with smoked aubergine & sesame; and a selection of cured meats. You can then move onto a selection of raw dishes, including Black bream ceviche and Beef Carpaccio or perhaps eat yourself into a carb loaded stupor with one of the fresh pasta dishes, including Blood sausage gnudi “Amatriciana”. If you're some how still hungry, take a peak at the main plates, including a shamelessly indulgent Beef short rib Rossini, foie gras, autumn truffle & leeks.  Puddings include a super refreshing Negroni sbagliato.  Pricing starts off at around £6 for small bites and around £20 for hearty mains. Visit on the weekend and diners can also enjoy an all-day brunch menu including Hot smoked salmon bagels with burrata & avocado and Short rib hash with fried eggs & devilled jus alongside items from the breakfast and the a la carte menus. We went and here's why you should go.../ Having opened with minimal fan-fair, Canto Corvino more than delivers with a charming Italian dining experience - and there aren't too many of those any more!
